Questions about

Triathlon Coach

These are our most frequently asked questions Triathlon Coach

What does a triathlon coach do?

The job of a triathlon coach is to comprehensively prepare triathletes for triathlon or similar competitions. The coach adapts the training flexibly to the athlete in order to optimally increase performance. Starting with an analysis of technique, such as swimming style or cycling technique, through to performance diagnostics, the coach first gets an idea of where the focus of the training needs to be placed.

Based on this, the trainer creates a training plan that combines specific strength training with technique and endurance training. As a trainer, you are also responsible for motivating and mentally training the customer in order to prepare them mentally for the competition.

How do I become a triathlon coach?

The training to become a certified triathlon coach consists of 4 modules. The basic module Sports Competence provides participants with a foundation of knowledge in areas such as anatomy, sports injuries, training theory, nutrition and much more.

In the 3 face-to-face modules running coach, swimming coach and triathlon coach, participants then learn various training techniques, as well as training plan design and material science. The modules also cover mental training and motivation, as well as rules and regulations and competition preparation.

Benefit from the comprehensive specialist knowledge of our academic instructors on the topics of running, water sports and triathlon in this course of 136 face-to-face course units, spread over 10 weekends. After completing the course, you will be fully trained in the theory and practice of triathlon training.

How long does the triathlon coach training course take?

The training comprises 17 attendance days, which take place in the form of a weekend course. The time frame of the attendance courses is therefore 9 weeks. After the last attendance unit, participants have one year to complete all their examinations and submit practical assignments. This includes 3 practical assignments, 8 theoretical intermediate exams from the Sports Competence module, one theoretical exam and one practical exam from the Running Coach module and one practical exam from each of the Swimming Coach and Triathlon Coach modules.

Participants can already complete the tasks and intermediate examinations from the Sports Competence module during the attendance phase. The prerequisite for taking the examinations is that the basic module has been completed, the assignments have been submitted and the attendance units have been attended.

Theoretically, it is therefore possible to complete the entire course within the 9 weeks. The maximum duration of the course is 61 weeks (9 weeks attendance + 1 year examination period). Realistically, your training duration will therefore be somewhere in the middle.
